The Ancient Convent Tells the Story of Saint Francis 1

The Ancient Convent Tells the Story of Saint Francis

Dating back to the mid-13th century, the San Francesco Convent in Bagnacavallo (Ravenna) was one of the first built following the death of Saint Francis. Constructed at a major crossroads along a busy thoroughfare, it served as a vital resting point for travelers and pilgrims for centuries.

Following a full restoration in 2000 funded by the Jubilee, the complex now hosts exhibitions and public meetings. Since 2017, it has also become a charming hotel.

On Saturday, October 4th, at 4:30 PM—the Feast Day of Saint Francis—we will retrace its history to understand why it still evokes such deep emotions today. Between historical facts and enduring myths, the figure of Saint Francis continues to fascinate and draw people closer to an authentic spirituality.

At the end of the tour, participants will enjoy a tasting of local wines and traditional products.

This event is organized in collaboration with Strada della Romagna and Biscotti Bizantini.
