Even before hearing them play, their name alone immediately brings Gypsy Jazz to mind—perhaps a nod to Woody Allen? Indeed, the trio Accordi Disaccordi, active since 2012 and composed of Alessandro Di Virgilio, Dario Berlucchi, and Dario Scopesi, is deeply rooted in the manouche tradition, yet they refuse to be bound by strict philology. When the music calls for it, the guitarists pick up electric instruments while Scopesi incorporates synthesizers, blending gypsy jazz, Mediterranean melodies, and Latin rhythms with the infectious energy of rock. The jazz once championed by Django Reinhardt thus bursts into modernity while keeping its original, unmistakable traits clearly recognizable.
Accordi Disaccordi has released five albums that trace a constantly evolving musical journey: from Bouncing Vibes (2013), Swing Avenue (2015), and Live Tracks (2016)—which mix original tracks, jazz and gypsy jazz standards, pop songs, and soundtracks—to the more recent Accordi Disaccordi (2017) and Decanter (2021). These latest works perfectly capture the trio's current stylistic signature, featuring a rich tapestry of Latin sounds, blues, progressive, and funky influences, all woven into the core thread of gypsy jazz.
